Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Available on-call for hotel emergencies.
Responsible for the Fire Safety of the hotel which includes training, certification and repair Fire systems, and monthly inspections and reports.
Develops and plans for a continuous preventative maintenance program for all public spaces, Food and Beverage outlets, guests rooms and back of house areas and staff accommodations including all equipment and furnishings;
Assists in panning operating budgets in the areas of:
Labor (for maintenance purposes);
Outside contractors;
Repair and maintenance expense items;
Assists in panning yearly capital budget;
Assesses all projects to determine if in-house maintenance can handle the job or if an outside contractor should be called and to what extent they should be employed, arrange for a mix of in-house labor with contracted labor where required;
Maintains in-house stack of maintenance articles and materials as required, on a purchase order system, as directed by management;
Organizes a maintenance program to allow maximization utilization of labor;
Ensures that good rapport and communication is maintained with all levels of staff and management.
Other Requirements:
Education/Experience - Must possess a minimum of 2 years hotel maintenance experience with at least 6 months at a management level.
Liaises with local trades and co-ordinates planning, electrical, mechanical repairs and maintenance;
Handles in-house repairs of furnishings and fixtures in guest rooms, public areas and Food and Beverage Outlets;
Controls and monitors cost of:
Labor;
Expense items in maintenance department;
Utilities;
Ensures that budgets, when established are met as possible.
